Artist Bio

Abbot jackson, or Jackson James Hall, was born in boston. raised all over the south and midwest, with time spent in north carolina, florida, iowa, chicago, and now back in boston. the oldest of two, in a family that never seemed to settle down and catch stride, jackson grew up fast in a household where the love for art and music was prominent through their struggles. early on he noticed how much his mother cared about her Henri Matisse replica of his painting “dance 1”, to jackson it seemed like her prize possesion. on bad days she would look at it, take a deep breath and admire it. from early on jackson knew he wanted to make people feel what his mom felt from that henri matisse painting through his own works. jackson aims to express relatable human feelings through his music, as well as provide context to the questions of everyday life, like a conscience the listener can rely on in hard times.

jackson began exploring these ideas at the young age of 14 in titusville, florida living with his mother, grandfather, and little sister. he started his mission as a painter. struggling in high school with little to no social outlets, he decided to start pursuing his dreams of becoming an artist, painting everyday as much as he could, endlessly studying his favorite painters and what it means to be an artist. jackson won an award at school for checking out the most books from the library and all his teachers were shocked, they couldn’t wrap their heads around a kid who was so determined to learn but was failing all his classes. jackson never looked at art as a hobby, he loved what he was doing and treated it like his job. ‍

at 17 years old jackson decided it was time for a change, he dropped out of high school and moved back to boston on his own to live with his best friend niko salado. together in boston the two of them set out to make something happen, niko with his love for fashion and jackson’s love for painting and music. this is when jackson really started to pursue music the way he was with painting.

Jackson began exploring these musical ideas on his soul recipe records debut “monastery o-Ciphers” (2022), which was followed by his “The Army Weekly” series that also began in 2022, drawing inspiration from conversations with his grandfather about his time in the korean war. Now in 2026 Abbot Jackson has released 14 instrumental albums and fully produced 6 albums for different emcees.

jackson’s most recent album “soulband” is about the records and artists that that he looks up to and inspire him to keep going. as a sample based producer jackson is fascinated by the imiginary combination of different records and artists that he hears in his head, this record is dedicated to them.”soulband” draws from the music that has inspired him over the years- Soul, R&B, Progressive rock, jazz-rock, Library Music and Jazz- creating a smooth fusion of all the music he loves so much.

“The thing that keeps pulling me back to the record is how all of it is so perfectly of a piece—Swizz and Amandala feel like they’re immersed in the currents of the beats; on “Love Runs for Free,” the vocals have the same bounce and swing as Jackson’s smoky jazz arrangement, and on album highlight “Passionate,” the two rappers feel like they’re cascading down the waterfall of marimba and snare that Jackson pours out behind them. The crew is prolific— J Edward Keyes, baNDCAMP editorial director”

“combining the beautiful world of jazz and classical with the cinematic and theatrical mastering to create one of the most breathtaking offerings this year has to offer!

You can hear the organic and natural elements of this album. Those angelic jazz notes, with those crisp and light drum patterns.

Those ever-so-delicate piano keys and thudding bass to give it that extra layer of depth are absolutely stunning. In every single track, you can hear various levels of detail, mastery, and precision, making every sound you hear glow on a frequency and quality most albums don’t have!” - cORBAN, THE SERPENTS TONGUE
